Neighbourhood Features
Wong Chuk Hang is located in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island, west of Deep Water Bay and east of Aberdeen. It is a residential and light industrial development area, with its landmark - Hong Kong Ocean Park - being a famous tourist attraction.
In the 1960s, the government developed Wong Chuk Hang, building the Wong Chuk Hang Estate, and the neighbourhood once flourished as a hub for light industry. As the light industry waned in the 1990s, the government was determined to give the area a brand new appearance.
Wong Chuk Hang’s industrial area was granted revitalization, transforming into a tourist destination and hotel district, while also infusing it with elements of art and culture. New residential projects emerged as a result of the gentrification.

Since the opening of the South Island Line, Wong Chuk Hang MTR Station has significantly improved the local transportation network. Additionally, the construction of the new shopping mall The Southside - over 510,000 square feet above the Wong Chuk Hang Station - provides residents with abundant shopping options.
