Lam Tin

Welcome to Lam Tin

Neighbourhood Features

Located in the southeastern part of Kowloon, within the Kwun Tong District and adjacent to Yau Tong to the south, Lam Tin was originally one of the public housing areas. The Lam Tin Estate Redevelopment Plan was proposed by the government in 1988, and after more than 20 years of development, Lam Tin has evolved into the residential community it is today.

As Lam Tin became a significant area for public housing, community facilities gradually improved, with numerous schools established. In addition, major transportation links, including the Eastern Harbour Crossing, Tseung Kwan O Tunnel,Tseung Kwan O - Lam Tin Tunnel and Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link, connect the area to both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, making the transportation network convenient. With the increase in transportation infrastructure, the population in the area has risen, accompanied by the rapid development of private housing projects.

Situated at a higher elevation near Black Hill, Lam Tin is adjacent to Lam Tin Park, offering popular short hiking routes with panoramic views of Victoria Harbour. The area also features recreational facilities such as playgrounds and picnic areas. Other amenities are well-established, including Lam Tin Community Complex, sports arenas, swimming pools, providing a diverse range of recreational activities. For shopping and dining, residents primarily rely on the various estate malls within the community.

Residential Distribution

Residential areas are concentrated around the MTR Lam Tin Station and the higher eastern terrain. Lam Tin Station is covered by the large-scale private housing development called Sceneway Garden, which includes a shopping mall. Nearby, there are several other malls, including Kai Tin Shopping Centre and Lek Yuen Plaza, ensuring comprehensive daily life necessities. Near the MTR station exits, there are also older estates like Kai Tin Towers and public housing estates like Hong Tin Court.

The higher eastern terrain consists mainly of private and public housing estates, including Hong Ying Court, Hong Nga Court, Hong Pak Court, On Tin Estate, Lam Tin Estate, Tak Tin Estate, and Kwong Tin Estate. There is an estate mall along On Tin Street, making life relatively convenient. Several bus routes serve the area, although the distance to the Lam Tin MTR station may be greater.
