Neighbourhood Features
Located in the Eastern District of Hong Kong Island, to the east of Causeway Bay and to the west of North Point, Fortress Hill derived its name from the historical North Point Battery established by the British army in the area. Since the completion of the Fortress Hill MTR Station, the community has seen further development.
The area is dominated by tenement buildings and condominiums, with no public housing, only private residences. In recent years, there has been an increase in new properties resulting from the renovation of old buildings. Fortress Hill boasts a comprehensive range of amenities, including well-known hotels, shopping malls, and recreational facilities. Notably, the area's distinctive feature is the East Coast Park, built along the seaside, providing a large recreational space, including a nearly 100-meter breakwater that allows for a close-up view of Victoria Harbour.
Furthermore, Fortress Hill has preserved historically and culturally significant buildings such as Oi!, Sam Kee Book Company, and the State Theatre, exuding a nostalgic charm. The area frequently hosts various art exhibitions, infusing an artistic atmosphere into the community.
Residential Distribution
Although Fortress Hill has a limited area, the residential buildings are primarily concentrated near the Fortress Hill MTR Station. Some of the private buildings in this area include Harbour Glory, Harbour Heights, Cannon Garden, Fortress Garden, Fortress Metro Tower and Le Sommet. With the MTR station only a 10-minute walk away, the area benefits from convenient and efficient transportation, including tram routes to various parts of Hong Kong Island. Some coastal estates offer picturesque views of the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, enhancing the overall beauty of the environment.
