Neighbourhood Features
Yuen Long is situated in the northwestern part of the New Territories, constituting the third-largest administrative district in Hong Kong. The development of Yuen Long New Town began in 1978, with the continuous construction of community public infrastructure. The core area of the district is the Yuen Long town center, which combines commercial and residential development, while the northern part of the town center is designated as an industrial area.
As part of the "Northern Metropolis" positioning for future development in Hong Kong, Yuen Long is included as a part of the metropolitan area and is considered one of the most mature and potentially appreciating regions. The community environment in Yuen Long is diverse, with a bustling and lively town center, numerous local shops serving daily needs, and popular recreational spots in the vicinity, such as Nam Sang Wai and Tai Tong Lychee Valley, attracting visitors from both within and outside the district during weekends.
In addition to a range of community facilities, the district features several large shopping malls, including Yuen Long Plaza, Kolour Yuen Long and Yoho Mall, catering to residents' daily shopping and entertainment needs. In terms of transportation, Yuen Long has a light rail network connecting to nearby urban areas, Tuen Mun, and Tin Shui Wai. There are also the Long Ping Station and Yuen Long West Rail Station, as well as various bus and minibus routes providing transportation to different districts in Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories.
Residential Distribution
Residential areas in the district are primarily concentrated around Long Ping Station, Yuen Long Station, Yuen Long Main Road, and Shap Pat Heung Road. The residences around Long Ping Station and Yuen Long Station benefit from convenient access to the railway, with well-developed transportation networks. Private buildings in this area include The Spectra, Kwan Lok Sun Tsuen, Yoho Town, Park Royale, Prosper Centre, Yee Fung Garden, and Atrium House.
The residential area along Yuen Long Main Road enjoys comprehensive lifestyle amenities and is covered by the light rail network. The residences in this area are mostly standalone buildings, such as Cheong Sing Building, Fu Hing Building, Fung Nin Building, Fu Ho Building, Hing Wong Mansion, and Lee King Building.
The Shap Pat Heung Road area consists mainly of low-density housing, with private estates like Fu Ting Garden, Park Villa, Silver Garden, and The Eldorado. Some original rural villages, such as Lam Hau Tsuen and Shan Ha Tsuen Yuen Long, are also interspersed in this area.
