Welcome to Cheung Sha Wan

Neighbourhood Features

Cheung Sha Wan is located in the northwestern part of the Kowloon Peninsula, covering the area from Butterfly Valley Road to Tonkin Street. Originally, it was a long beach, hence the name Cheung Sha Wan. Since the early 20th century, Hong Kong has initiated land reclamation projects, and Cheung Sha Wan gradually developed into a mixed-use area for industrial, commercial, and residential purposes.

Cheung Sha Wan is a significant hub for the wholesale garment industry in Hong Kong. However, with the decline of the industrial sector, many factories have closed or transformed into other industries. The government has also undertaken redevelopment projects in the area, converting old recreational spaces into residential high-rises, contributing to an increase in housing demand.

With the influx of residents, more community facilities have been added, including the Cheung Sha Wan Sports Centre and Cheung Sha Wan Playground, providing ample recreational space. The area also has several housing estate shopping malls, such as Un Chau Shopping Centre, meeting the daily needs of residents.

In terms of transportation, besides the MTR Cheung Sha Wan Station, there are major roads nearby, including Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road. Multiple bus and minibus routes connect the area to various districts in Hong Kong.

Residential Distribution

Residential properties in the area are mainly distributed along the waterfront, from Lai Chi Kok Road to Sham Mong Road, and near the Cheung Sha Wan Station. Waterfront residences have lower building density, offering sea views with a glimpse of Tsing Yi Island. Private residential buildings in this area include Grand Victoria, and there are also subsidized housing estates like Hoi Lok Court and public housing estate Hoi Ying Estate.

Between Lai Chi Kok Road and Sham Mong Road, there are mixed industrial and residential buildings with higher building density. Private residential buildings in this area include Aqua Marine, Banyan Garden, Liberte, The Pacifica, and The Sparkle. The vicinity of Cheung Sha Wan Station is dominated by newer buildings, enjoying the convenience of amenities and proximity to the railway. Private residential buildings in this area include Beacon Lodge, Heya Aqua, High One, Po Wah Court, The Astro, The Harmonie, The Sorentino, and The Vertex.
