Neighbourhood Features
Wu Kai Sha is located in the Sha Tin District of the New Territories, formerly known as Wu Kwai Sha. It is adjacent to Ma On Shan and the northern part of Sai Kung, serving as both a vacation destination and a private residential area. With the development of the nearby Ma On Shan New Town, the government has improved transportation to and from Wu Kai Sha. The MTR Wu Kai Sha Station was completed in 2004, connecting to the local shopping mall, Double Cove Place, where various shops and restaurants cater to the residents' needs. While the government initially planned land reclamation at Wu Kai Sha Beach, strong opposition from residents led to the plan being shelved.
Wu Kai Sha's natural beach attracts many visitors on weekends, making it a primary recreational area in the community. In addition to the beach, the area offers various entertainment options, including Pak Shek Kok BBQ Site, waterfront promenades, and Wu Kai Sha Youth Village, meeting diverse leisure needs. In terms of transportation, aside from the Wu Kai Sha Station on the Tuen Ma Line, there are also bus and minibus routes connecting the area to different parts of Hong Kong.
Residential Distribution
Residential developments are concentrated around the Wu Kai Sha Station and along Yiu Sha Road to the north. Since 2011, several private estates have been developed in this area, including Double Cove, Lake Silver, and Seanorama. Further away from the city center, along the coastal area of Yiu Sha Road, there are developments like St. Barths and Altissimo, offering higher privacy and expansive sea views.
