Neighbourhood Features
Kennedy Town is located at the western end of Hong Kong Island and is one of the earliest developed areas in Hong Kong. Since the 1990s, it has undergone reclamation and the closure of noxious facilities, leading to the development of upscale residential areas.
Despite being considered a relatively remote area on Hong Kong Island, the district has gradually added community facilities, including community centers, public swimming pools, municipal buildings, recreational parks, and waterfront promenades. With the extension of the Island Line to Kennedy Town Station, the transportation network has become increasingly well-established.
Kennedy Town is close to the seaside and has low building density, creating an overall tranquil environment. The streets are dotted with cafes, exuding a leisurely atmosphere that is distinctly different from the bustling city center.
Residential Distribution
Residential areas in Kennedy Town are relatively scattered, with lower building heights. Many estates are located along the coastline, offering breathtaking sea views and close proximity to the Kennedy Town MTR station. Some of the residential buildings in this area include Manhattan Heights, Cadogan, Cayman Rise, The Merton, Brilliant Court, The Sail At Victoria, Imperial Kennedy and more. Near the MTR station, there are also residential complexes like University Heights and Smithfield Terrace.
The coastal estates enjoy serene sea views and have convenient access to nearby tram lines and MTR stations, making transportation extremely convenient. The surrounding streets are filled with restaurants and small shops, catering to the daily needs of the residents. Additionally, the government has allocated coastal land on Ka Wai Man Road in Sai Ying Pun for the development of public housing and subsidized housing, which is expected to increase the residential population.
