Neighbourhood Features

Central is located on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island and serves as the core business district and the financial and economic center of Hong Kong, holding significant importance. Since 1970, the headquarters of various multinational banks and financial institutions have been established in the area, leading to a continuous increase in the demand for commercial land.

Central has also undergone multiple phases of reclamation and redevelopment. The district boasts several prominent commercial buildings, including the HSBC Headquarters, Bank of China Tower, Hang Seng Bank Headquarters, and the Jardine House. Even the Chief Executive's residence, the Government House, is located in Central.

In addition to its numerous office buildings, Central offers a wide range of shopping and entertainment options, featuring several large shopping malls such as the International Finance Centre, Landmark, and Prince's Building. The vibrant entertainment district of Lan Kwai Fong, known for its bars and restaurants, also caters to the residents' diverse lifestyle needs.

As the primary commercial hub in Hong Kong, Central benefits from a comprehensive transportation network. The Central MTR Station serves as an interchange for four MTR lines, connecting several major thoroughfares, including Harcourt Road, Des Voeux Road Central, Queen's Road Central, and Connaught Road Central.

These roads host multiple bus, minibus, and tram routes that link to various districts in Hong Kong. Furthermore, the Central Ferry Piers offer multiple ferry routes to different outlying islands, as well as certain routes to downtown areas such as Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom, providing residents with diverse transportation options.
