Discover the Southern District of Hong Kong

Hong Kong Living | February 25, 2016

The Southern District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong, and it is without a doubt hard to get to. Named due to its southern position on Hong Kong Island, it takes at least half an hour to get to from the bustling center on the other side of the island. However, there are many great reasons as to why you should make this trip, because once you get to know the Southern District, you might just fall in love with it.

Aberdeen

Aberdeen 香港仔Most of you would know Aberdeen for its seafood. But its delicious seafood is only one of the many attractions Aberdeen has to offer. The floating village and floating markets are world renowned and definitely worth visiting for locals and tourists alike. There’s also the nearby Tin Hau Temple you can visit, or if you want to have a more chill and relax time, then watching the sunset over the harbor would be a good idea too.

Stanley

Stanley Hong KongA popular tourist destination, there is a reason why Stanley draws such an international crowd. From shopping for local delicacies at the market to visiting the pier, or visit the 160 years old Murray House, a colonial styled Victorian building that was moved to Stanley from Central in the early 2000s. Nowadays, it’s full of restaurants with an epic sea view. There’s even an H&M inside!

Repulse Bay

Repulse Bay, Hong KongIf you are a fan of sun, sand and sea, then you will love Repulse Bay. It will instantly make you feel like you have been transported to a tropical paradise, with its white sand and endless stretch of ocean. It’s no wonder that the property price there is over the roof, but hey, you can visit the beach anytime by just taking the bus!
