Barbecuing has become increasingly popular in Hong Kong recently, with dozens of BBQ enthusiasts searching for the best spot to get their grill on. Whether you’d rather barbecue on your own grill or would prefer being waited on at a restaurant, there are tons of BBQ places that offer different grilling experiences. We’ve rounded up the best places to go BBQ at, so all you have to do is decide between chicken or shrimp.

Limewood, located in Repulse Bay, is one of the most well-known restaurants for quality BBQ in Hong Kong. Created by Maximal Concepts, who is the team behind Blue Butcher and Stockton, the restaurant gives off a distinctive Californian vibe. It’s location on the beach ensures you’ll have an amazing view, while it’s menu is sure to have something for everyone, with dishes inspired by places such as Vietnam and Thailand and a slew of yummy margaritas and other mixed drinks. Be sure to try their BBQ New Zealand Lamb Rack or their BBQ Australian Wagyu 32oz Prime Rib the next time you hit up this delicious restaurant.

Located in the Whitehead Club Driving Range, Pacific Sky BBQ offers guests a gorgeous panoramic view of Tolo Harbour as well as a delectable, self-serving grill. Though Shek O Main Beach is not a single restaurant, this is one of the premiere places to get your grill on in Hong Kong. The beach features over thirty concrete pits that visitors are welcome to use to grill to their heart’s content. Even if the public pits are all being used, you can still rent a portable one from a local kiosk, which you can even take onto the sand and rocks to truly enjoy the view. All you have to do is remember to pack all the supplies needed for grilling and then you’ll be well on your way for the perfect grilling experience.

BBQ by the Beach is exactly what it sounds like! Located in Tuen Mun, this adorable BBQ restaurant is situated on the beachside, so it overlooks a fantastic and very Instagram-worthy view. With a lot of outdoor seating, this is the perfect venue for families or large groups. The restaurant is also very child-friendly, often holding games or other activities that makes kids flock there. Their selection of BBQ food has become a hit with locals, so make sure to try them out next time you’re going to the beach.

The great thing about Tai Mei Tuk BBQ King is that you can order sets and individual pieces of food that you can barbecue yourself. They offer a variety of unique, grillable foods that can be difficult to find other places, including sausages, black pepper chicken, and cuttlefish. The only catch is that you’re unable to bring in any outside food or beverages, so you have to buy their products if you want to BBQ there. Just be sure to arrive early so you can ensure you get a spot at one of these popular pits. This tiny Japanese BBQ restaurant is a diamond in the rough. Though it’s entrance may be difficult to find, once you’re inside this restaurant you’ll never want to eat anywhere again. Morihachi Yakiniku is delicately decorated, known for its beautifully designed plates and cutlery. Each table is situated with a small grill in the middle, so you can order all the meat you want and grill it to your heart’s content. It’ll be like you’re hosting your own barbecue in your backyard, but you won’t have to deal with the preparation and cleanup that usually comes with it. So, that’s definitely a win-win situation for you.
